Growing food while regenerating soil and biodiversity
Empower farmers all over Greece and beyond to convert their farming operations to regenerative ones.
Join us in this mission.
WHY
farming for regeneration
Regenerative farming is a solution to a widespread problem. Farming nowadays depletes watertables, and loses soil because it doesn´t look at a farm as part of an ecosystem. Regenerative farming realizes the potential of a farming operation to restore soil health, plant health and the health of the overall eco-system by following principles of circularity and biodiversity. Through this our farms not only produce healthy nutrient dense food, but also become resilient to climate crisis.
The aim of this program is to enable and support the transition of farming in Greece into a regenerative one, by sharing the knowledge about agroforestry, its possibilities for restoring soil, plant and animal health, thus regenerating our ecosystems and building resilience facing climate change.
ELEMENTS OF OUR WORK
Our programs
REGENERATIVE PILOT FARMS ALL OVER GREECE
Our Pilot farms represent some of the most prevailing agricultural contexts of Greece. Through with real examples other farmers can experience what a regenerative farm looks in practice, while we gain precious insights into country and context specific challenges and opportunities.
Local networks facilitate peer-to-peer learning but also allow us to identify local specific challenges and react to those, through offering specific solutions. Field trips to other relevant farms in country but also abroad, multi-stakeholder engagement and more are playing a key role in this process.
Videos nowadays are one of the most inclusive mediums for knowledge transfer. Combining audio and visual creates a strong tool for transformation and deep learning.
Therefore, we aim to build a video library with inspirational and informative videos on regenerative farming in the Greek language for farmers and practitioners.
This program aims to support farmers working on lands located close to waterways and to the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, to transition to regenerative agricultural practices. This will protect and restore our precious waterways, increase biodiversity and contribute to climate change mitigation.
Further we connect you with the global movement in the section "Global" where you can continue your learning journey, find inspiring farms from all over the world or find practitioners that you can consult.
Agroecology & Regenerative Farming Open Farm Days 2022
In the framework of the month of Agroecology, we will come together with representatives from other movements in Greece that work towards a farming and food system that works with nature rather than against it.
We will discover the similarities of these movements and explore how we can go together forward to facilitate the change in Greece and beyond of our agrifood systems.
Join us in this great endeavour.
