WHAT WE DO
moving forward the transition in Greece
Regenerative farming is a solution to a widespread problem. Farming nowadays depletes watertables, and loses soil because it doesn´t look at a farm as part of an ecosystem. Regenerative farming realizes the potential of a farming operation to restore soil health, plant health and the health of the overall eco-system by following principles of circularity and biodiversity. Through this our farms not only produce healthy nutrient dense food, but also become resilient to climate crisis.
The aim of this program is to enable and support the transition of farming in Greece into a regenerative one, by sharing the knowledge about agroforestry, its possibilities for restoring soil, plant and animal health, thus regenerating our ecosystems and building resilience facing climate change.
CORE PILLARS OF OUR WORK
EDUCATIONAL VIDEO LIBRARY
Videos nowadays are one of the most inclusive mediums for knowledge transfer. Combining audio and visual creates a strong tool for transformation and deep learning.
Therefore, we built a video library with inspirational and informative videos on regenerative farming in the Greek language for farmers and practitioners.
A supportive community is essencial in pionner movements. These locally embedded hubs provide learning opportunities and support to transition to regenerative farming practices. Each peer-to-peer learning group is supported by our team of experts with advice and tailor made trainings answering to their most pressing challenges.
Our Pilot farms represent some of the most prevailing agricultural contexts of Greece. Through real examples other farmers can experience what a regenerative farm looks in practice, while we gain precious insights into country and context specific challenges and opportunities.
Further we connect you with the global movement in the section "Global" where you can continue your learning journey, find inspiring farms from all over the world or find practitioners that you can consult.
EARA - European Alliance for Regenerative Agriculture founding event
15-17 November 2023, Germany
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the European Alliance for Regenerative Agriculture (EARA)!
We are also excited to share that Sheila Darmos, our director, is founding member of this farmer-led organization that is committed to advancing regenerative practices across Europe. Over two days, 50 forward-thinking farmers from 20+ European countries gathered at Schloss Kirchberg, uniting for a common cause — to spearhead a regenerative transformation in our agri-food ecosystems.
Why is this important?
The European Alliance for Regenerative Agriculture (EARA) has set its sights on guiding political and economic decision-making across EU member states and institutions. The alliance aims to prevent industries from dominating discussions on defining regenerative agriculture. These farmers are stepping up to ensure their voices are heard in crucial discourses. Let's support their mission for a sustainable future!
It was great to be part of the Agroecology Europe Forum and coming together with other initiatives from all over Europe, Researchers, Activists and decision makers under the common aim to transform our agri-food systems towards agroecological practices.
A huge thank you to the Greek Agroecology Network!
We are grateful to have been invited as moderator for the kick-off event of the TUI Field to Fork Greece! Soils were in the centre of the converstaion, particularly on how we can safeguard and honor them, through the production and consumption chains and links.
A big thank you to Sustainable Food Destinations, TUI Care Foundation, Futouris e.V., and Local Food Experts, for giving a front place to the conversation on regeneration in Greece's tourism sector!
Agroecology & Regenerative Farming Open Farm Days 2022
In the framework of the month of Agroecology, we will come together with representatives from other movements in Greece that work towards a farming and food system that works with nature rather than against it.
We will discover the similarities of these movements and explore how we can go together forward to facilitate the change in Greece and beyond of our agrifood systems.
Join us in this great endeavour.
